Supporting Our Community Together

Caraidean Uibhist SCIO

Caraidean Uibhist SCIO is a befriending organisation in place to tackle loneliness and social isolation across our five island communities of Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula, North Uist and Berneray.

We are a voluntary sector service, providing governance and management support to

·      a befriending service

·      activity groups

·      a drug and alcohol support service

There is a Trustees board with representation from a variety of third sector and statutory agencies.

The companionship we provide to our patrons increases their quality of life and uplifts their life experiences.

Located in the heart of Balivanich, Caraidean Uibhist is a charitable foundation dedicated to helping those in need. With the dedication of our volunteers, staff members and partners, we strive to improve the lives of everyone who needs help within the community.

Received from a Partner Agency:

“I would like to pass on my thanks for my Clients who attend your days out.

A couple of them have said the following to me:

“I never used to go out anywhere and I thought that I didn’t need to go and see people.  But since I have been going out for lunch with the ladies I am really enjoy it and I now look forward to it.”

“A Clients husband told me that him and his wife were going out to Clachan Church with you.  I asked what they would be doing, and he said he didn’t know but it would be fun anyway as it always is.”

Both comments really made my day as it shows just how important social interaction is.

So, thank you again.

Regards

“We are immensely proud to receive this recognition and reflects the dedicated and long hours the Caraidean team put in to ensure that the organisation provides the service that it does to our community; without our Volunteers, we would not exist …. they are such an integral part of the Caraidean family, from befrienders to volunteer support workers, to the Board themselves, without them we would not be able to continue to flourish”
