Volunteer Opportunities

One of our main causes here at Caraidean Uibhist is Volunteer Opportunities, an issue that touches many lives, particularly those in the greater Balivanich area. We spend a significant portion of our resources on tackling this problem. See how you can help by reading more or contacting one of our representatives on 01870603233

1 to 1 visits

This can take many forms, for example, visiting someone in their homes, attending community events or activities, attending outings and supporting people to access health and well being services.

Group befriending

"Even if you are feeling lonely, you know you don't have to be"

Caraidean Uibhist Participants

"When i first met my 'befriendee', she was in the hospital recovering from a fall.

She was allowed back home soon after i met her with a care package in place. She was in a lot of pain and had very limited mobility. I visited her roughly every two weeks and visits normally lasted between one and two hours as she always had a lot of interesting things to talk about. She has a wonderful neighbour who calls in or phones on a daily basis but i suppose i am the only person she can talk to face to face for any length of time. She has had a very rough time in the last few years with the illness and death of her husband and daughter with in the last four months. Understandably, she often goes back to talk through these episodes but she is always positive and determined. The birth and progress of her great grandson in Glasgow is another thing we talk about as well as her own health. I enjoy our chats and have come to look forward to visiting."
